candace and eric and a whole lot of thanks | utah wedding photographer

let's kick this off this romantic post with a gargantuan, sloppy kiss. from me to you. from me to you, minus the romance. this is more of a platonic thing. okay, getting off track already, what am i really trying to say here? basically, i'm trying to sayi can't thank you enough for your comments on my post below. i was blown away with your support. and it seems to serve as a lesson that when you shoot something for you, you know, where you partially replace your eyeballs with your actual heart, you manage to truly CONNECT with others. though this is the way i always try to shoot, i'll be honest, its harder than it sounds in my idealistic little mind. and i'm not always 100% successful. but i'm getting there, inch by painful, thrilling, inch, and receiving such nice feedback from y'all, helps propel me along. so thank you, thank you, thank you. and now, please feast your eyes on this lovely couple, who's actual wedding marty and i photographed last weekend. it was every bit amazing as candace and eric deserved. these shots, however are from their "him and her (oooh, it sounds so intimate, doesn't it? like bathrobes)," session earlier in the month. we spent some time in a field in lehi, and then wrapped things up in the studio. now, i'd say its high time to let the photos do the talking...

our little girls | boise children's photographer, utah children's photographer

what's white and rainbow, and squealy all over? my + becky earl's kids in the studio!!!! looky here heartshop attendees, this session is shot at the very location where you'll be hanging out for a few days! not only did we want to show you the studio, we wanted to show you images that make our heart sing. these images are like more heart healthy for me than cheerios! why? because 1. they have MY girls in them. =)  (though wrennie, the little squat bucket, only survived the first half of the shoot) 2. they have my girls in them being their silly selves 3. when i look at them i'm reminded of more than one reason as to why life is so, so, so good.

thanks for looking!

p.s. if this shoot had audio, you'd have to cover your ears. otherwise they might explode from a giggling overload.

yan and becky earl bff's fo-ev-uh! | in other words, its a heartshop

Picture 2 okay, its not like i even CAN pretend to not be crazy nervous about announcing this. even if i really, really wanted to. because here are the facts:

1. everyone does a workshop these days

2. everyone claims to have something worth money to offer.

but you know what i say to that?

1. Its not a workshop, its a HEARTshop. And NOT everyone does a HEARTshop with BECKY FREAKING EARL!

Knowing becky is surreal as she is someone who's work I've respected loooooong before meeting her in person. lucky for me she happened to move to Utah where I could bribe her with m&m's to become my buddy.

2. And everyone probably DOES have something worth money to offer. Its just that its up to you to decide if this particular hearthop is worth it for YOU. And it might not be, but, you know what else, it just MIGHT!

I, for one, think its going to the most gosh darn EPIC EVENT OF THE CENTURY!

So head here for all the juicy info, and leave me a comment to let me know what you think!  for questions about the heartshop, make sure you go through the contact page on the heartshop's website. mwahhhhh!!!! (that's a kiss).

REMEMBER THESE LEGS? | Utah Love Photographer, Utah wedding photographer

what happened this morning exactly: myra: mommy, mommy WAKE UP!

me: (incoherent mumble/moan)

myra: daddy, if you don't wake up, i'm going to spank your face! (no, we don't spank our children, what would make you think we spank our children?)

marty: ahhhhhhh! no, don't spank my face!

me: (huddled in corner, pretending to be oblivious, trying to catch extra moments of precious sleep)

myra: giggling....alright daddy, (SMACK!!!!)

marty leaps, i swear completely vertically into the air from a laying position, pillow poised in hand (totally kung fu style), and hurls it as hard as he can at 4 year old myra's face.

i hold my breath.

myra doesn't cry.

we all laugh and get up to eat breakfast. a sleepy wrennie is scooped up from her crib along the way.

************

that was a nice morning. the morning i spent with these two was pretty nice as well. in both scenarios, warm feelings and laughing were key components.

featured! | utah wedding photographer, utah engagement photographer

hey y'all, hopefully you have something exciting and fresh in the works for your weekend. i have a sinus infection. wah. BUT

i also have exciting news about a couple of really cool features for yan photography that happened lately.

first up, alison and eric's love shoot was featured over at one of the best wedding resources in all of utah! the utah bride and groom magazine's blog! if you are a utah bride i definitely encourage you to not only pick up their magazine but click around their website for the best in utah weddings.

utah bride and groom

second, i was absolutely floored and honored when i opened up my email inbox and found an email from the lovely Janie Medley, editor of one of THE most popular weddding blogs, The Brides Cafe.

bride's cafe feature

Janie is so kind, and said, "what do you think about sending over a little something to feature," and i was like, "are you kidding me, i'll send you something every day!" But you'll just have to click on her link to find out what actually got sent.

in the wide world of wedding photography, and to a little yan like myself, getting featured is kind of a major honor. so i have to kind of say a major thanks. =)
